The search for a 5-year-old Delaware boy who was kidnapped by his father on Saturday ended early this morning as both the boy and the father were located at the Westin Hotel on Fellowship Road, police said today.
Investigators said the father, Angel Duprey, 30, of Philadelphia was arrested at around 1:10 a.m. in a hotel room with a woman, Bessie Rivera, 21, and a large quantity of PCP laced marijuana and unauthorized prescription drugs. Duprey’s missing son, Zion Duprey, was also found inside the room unharmed, police said.
According to published reports, Zion had been missing since Saturday when his father allegedly entered the Lincoln, Del. home of the boy’s mother and grandmother and kidnapped the boy by force. The boy’s grandmother tried to stop him, but was unable to stop the abduction.
Angel Duprey has an active protection abuse ordered issued on June 19 from Pennsylvania that prohibited him from having contact with the boy’s mother or their three children.
Delaware State Police had been searching for the Angel Duprey and the boy for the last several days, according to authorities. At one point an amber alert was issued.
Mount Laurel police charge Angel Duprey with interference with custody, possession of drugs with the intent to distribute and being a fugitive. He was lodged in Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly on $105,000 bail, police said.
Rivera was charged with drug possession, police said. She was lodged in the Burlington County Minimum Security Facility in Pemberton Township on $20,000 bail, police said.
