A 26-year-old Blasdell man who fell into a ravine while walking in the woods Sunday was rescued Sunday night during an extensive search that included the use of a helicopter and tracking dogs, Town of Hamburg police said.

Aaron N. Dorolek was taken to Erie County Medical Center, where he was listed in fair condition today.

Family members told police Sunday that Dorolek had been missing since Saturday. After the missing-person's report was filed, Hamburg Police Officer Michael Prusak located Dorolek's vehicle on Grafton Avenue near Fairview Parkway.

Several search teams, including help from the Erie County Sheriff's Department and the Buffalo police, searched the nearby wooded area. Shortly after 8 p.m., Dorolek was found, semi-conscious with several injuries from his fall, police said.

Detectives believe Dorolek was walking alone and had been drinking when he fell in the rough terrain and wet conditions. Police believe he had fallen at least six hours before he was found.
