Oakland Police are holding a press conference at 4 p.m. today about a missing five-year-old boy with cerebral palsy who disappeared yesterday afternoon in North Oakland.

Hassani Campbell of Fremont was last seen around 4 p.m. in a car parked near Shuz of Rockridge, 6012 College Avenue, said Sgt. Richard Vierra of the Oakland Police.

Hassani’s foster father parked near the store where his fiance, the boy’s biological aunt (and foster mother) works, authorities said.

He stepped inside for a moment and when he returned, the boy was gone.

Police closed down a two-block area near College and Claremont yesterday evening to search for the missing child. A helicopter and six search-and -rescue dogs were used, but no trace of the boy was found.

This morning, police continued to comb the area and handed out fliers with pictures of Hassani to local shopkeepers, said Sandra Biasotti of Berkeley Kid’s Room, a furniture store on College Ave.

A spokeswoman for the F.B.I confirmed that as of Tuesday, they have joined the search as well.

Hasani is three feet tall, weighs 40 lbs and is African American; he has short black hair and brown eyes and was wearing a gray sweatshirt and sweatpants. He was wearing braces on his legs.

Anyone with knowledge of the incident should call the Oakland Police Special Victims Section: 510 238 3641.
