Rodney Stafford said he plans to leave Woodstock, Ont. in the morning from the church parking lot where hundreds gathered at a memorial in June for the eight-year-old who disappeared in April.
Stafford said he is making the 3,400-kilometre journey to Edmonton to raise funds for Child Find Ontario. ``I don't care how long it takes me I am going to make this trek,'' Stafford said Tuesday.
The little girl was last seen April 8 when video surveillance footage caught her walking away from her school with a woman.
Ontario Provincial Police discovered her remains in a secluded farmers field Northwest of Guelph, Ont. on July 19.
He said his sister has planned a fundraiser upon his arrival in Edmonton in about a month from now. The pair will then travel to Jasper, Alta. to release a purple balloon on a mountain the eight-year-old once visited.
Stafford said his family held a private funeral for his daughter Friday and her remains were buried just outside Woodstock.
There will never be total closure but there is a lot more now that we know she is home,'' Stafford said.
Terri-Lynne McClintic, 19, and Michael Rafferty, 28, both from Woodstock, have each been charged with first-degree murder.
